Lots of jadeite for beauty and value. Bat is symbol of Happiness. Lotus is symbolic of body and mind perfection, long life and honor. And Lucky Coins are symbolic of wealth, security in life. The Bat and Lotus are on the darker green side. The Lucky Coins in white jadeite. This also symbolized Yin and Yang, dark and white jadeite, for balance. You can see the detailed carving, especially on the reverse side. This is old mine jadeite, made by a jade carver who studied the jadeite rough stone and decided how to use the color and amount of jade stone to its best. Then he chose an auspicious day to carve it.
There is a red thread through the top to show where the hole is to add a silk "Dragon Whiskers" cord. Due to the weight, a jeweler would probably need to make a custom bail if you choose to wear it on a metal chain.
This was purchased from a jade carver's private collection in southern China near the Burma border. He knew the jade carver and the value of the jadeite stone and the carving work and said it was made in the late 1900's.
